New set, card potential and of course, a review on the cards that can see play in the Legacy scenario.

Today, I come to bring you an analysis of Phyrexia: All Will Be Onelink outside website cards that could end up entering one of the oldest Magic formats!

White

Starting with a potential bet, I believe that Kemba, Kha Enduring is a card that can enter the Mono-White Hammer that has been growing in legacy.

It fits like a 5th/6th Puresteel Paladin's copy, only with the factor of having an interesting ETB, without the need of Metalcraft. In addition, in a longer game, it can generate tokens to continue putting pressure on the opponent.

A potential card that can revive Infect with some gas, a deck that appears little today in championships.

It is similar to Mother of Runes. Despite having to do a splash to white to test this card, I think it's worth it, as the deck already uses Noble Hierarch to ramp the game.

Thinking that toxic is the new Infect, it's a good bet that Skrelv's Hive could end up playing in Infect decks like a new Bitterblossom with the plus that its tokens can have Lifelink.

This, on the other hand, is a "shot in the dark" because four white mana is relatively costly heavy for Legacy. After this card being spoiled, plausible combos have already come out with it (with Guilty Conscience, for example).

However, in decks that have access to Aether Vial, it can end up seeing play. A time ago there were decks like Death and Taxes (and even today with Yorion, Sky Nomad) that already put Palace Jailer in play with Aether Vial. I think this can follow the same path.

Blue

I believe that Minor Misstep is the only blue card that can see play (in my opinion) in Legacy.

It compares to Mental Misstep, only balanced. But with the advent of being able to counter things like Crashing Footfalls and Living End, which play in cascade decks that appear sporadically in Legacy.

In addition to that for little cost, it can also counter a Brainstorm, Ponder or even a Dragon's Rage Channeler.

Black

While this card cannot deal with Murktide Regent or Griselbrand, Anoint with Affliction can resolve Stoneforge Mystic or the germ of Kaldra Compleat very well, and handles the Marit Lage token well if needed.

We've had Diabolic Edict playing in Legacy for a long time, which was replaced by Liliana's Triumph, which in turn gave way to Sudden Edict, which because it had Split Second became the best removal for decks like Pox.

However, this Edict has the plus of hitting Planeswalker and Tokens (like Marit Lage). I think it could be a good card for decks with black in the format.

Red

The card that bears the name of the collection. Strong, but a priori heavy for the Legacy environment.

But as already said about Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes, I think it could end up playing in decks like Lands, GW Depths or Naya Depths because cards like Urza's Saga, Dark Depths or even Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes putting their counters can make it a good finishing card.

And just like Phyrexian Vindicator, players have found a combo with Quest for Pure Flame, so we might have some tests of this tech on Legacy and see what happens.

This friend here is already being speculated on Pioneer to play in a possible Hammer Time.

But since we already have this deck in Legacy, I think they might end up making a splash to add it as an alternative finisher to the deck, even more so as with this splash cards like Pyroblast and Red Elemental Blast might end up on the side to help in matches against Blue Decks.

It's not a Murktide Regent, but with the help of Dragon's Rage Channeler it might be able to see play.

Decks with many cantrips can speed up this card's entry into the battlefield. His random factor could end up being bad, but with Murktide Regent "filtering" the graveyard, he could turn out to be an interesting card to use.

Green

Some say this card can see play in Cloudpost's deck, as a Crucible of Worlds with one more power to redo a Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger that was countered, or a Karn, the Great Creator, who can also tutor this card on the sideboard.

Just like Conduit of Worlds, Tyrranax Rex can play in this same deck as it acts like a Blightsteel Colossus with the factor that can't be countered and has good protection with its Ward (acting as a Kappa Cannoneer).

The cost of it having 3 green mana can weigh, but I think that being in a deck with Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth can make it easier on the field.

Trolls are beings in Magic that rarely appear as cards, but when they do appear, they come with very relevant effects.

This troll can relatively see play in Legacy because almost nothing can take it out, just a creature bigger than it, something that makes its controller sacrifice it, or a Council's Judgment. A card that fits well on the sideboard of green decks.

We had more hope that in this set more green creatures could come to the Infect deck, but so far, the best in this color is Venerated Rotpriest.

Its effect gives a gas to reach the opponent's 10 toxic counters, and in a deck where most of your spells target your creatures, it can be said that it could be a fundamental piece in the deck.

Multicolored

Most multicolored cards can end up not seeing play in Legacy, but Tyvar, Jubilant Brawler in my opinion is one of the few ones that I think can be very useful.

In a deck like Elves, the static of the planeswalker can help a lot to combo faster, and your -2 recovering deck pieces can be very useful as well. Even if he has to compete for space with Grist, the Hunger Tide, I think he can fit well in the deck.

Artifacts

I think Argentum Masticore could be interesting in decks like MUD or Cloudpost, as its effect resembles Cityscape Leveler, Sundering Titan or Meteor Golem, but with the effect always being redone.

Especially since she could end up playing in the same deck as Conduit of Worlds.

This card I believe plays in a well-known deck in the format that received a long time ago Karn, the Great Creator. It can end up being a good combo piece with Voltaic Key + Grim Monolith.

Like the other swords that entered the format and consolidated, I believe that Sword of Forge and Frontier can be tested in a Stoneforge Mystic deck.

Its effect is quite unique and can boost decks based on the Forge strategy.

Conclusion

Well, that's the end of this analysis of the Phyrexia: All Will Be One cards. Let's see which bets can end up winning in our beloved Legacy!

Until the next one!
