**Blight Rot** (2B, Instant — “Put four -1/-1 counters on target creature”) would fit best in a **black control or midrange deck**, especially one that synergizes with **-1/-1 counters** (such as Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons or other counter-matters strategies), because the counters are permanent and can interact with proliferate or similar effects; however, at three mana it is generally **underpowered compared to other black removal spells**. Cards like **Go for the Throat**, **Infernal Grasp**, **Power Word Kill**, or even **Hero’s Downfall** are usually better because they destroy a creature outright for the same or less mana without restrictions based on toughness, and **Fatal Push** is far more efficient in faster formats. While the -1/-1 counter clause can occasionally be relevant against indestructible creatures or in synergy decks, in most competitive environments this card would likely **not see play**, as more efficient and flexible removal options exist.
