Hive Mind Coprocessor fits best in a Commander artifact-creature swarm deck, especially Esper or Dimir builds that make many evasive Thopters, Servos, Myr, or artifact tokens and can reliably connect with several creatures each combat; paying one life per hit is very efficient when you are drawing multiple cards, but five mana is a lot for a creature that does nothing until your next successful attack. It is generally weaker than `Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor`, which costs three mana and draws from any creature that damages an opponent, though Gix's trigger is not restricted to artifacts; `Bident of Thassa`, `Coastal Piracy`, and `Reconnaissance Mission` are also often better draw engines because they cost four or less and do not require life payments, while `Idol of Oblivion` is preferable in dedicated artifact-token decks.
