About Old Fat Spider

Old Fat Spider would fit best in a green midrange, ramp, or Commander deck that wants a sizable defensive creature against flyers while also pressuring opponents who rely on targeted removal; its pseudo-evasion against small creatures makes it useful for breaking through token decks, and the card-draw trigger gives some compensation when opponents target it. However, at six mana it is likely outclassed unless its power and toughness are unusually high: **Elder Gargaroth** is generally better as a five-mana reach creature because it has vigilance, trample, and generates cards, creatures, or life whenever it attacks or blocks, while **Carnage Tyrant** is better against control because it has hexproof and cannot be countered. Old Fat Spider could be a reasonable casual or Commander inclusion if its stats are large enough and your metagame has flyers, small blockers, and removal, but it would probably not see competitive play over more efficient green threats.
