Tome Blast fits best in a red-based spells or tempo deck that values cheap interaction early and late-game reach, such as Izzet Prowess, Jeskai Spells, or low-curve Limited decks where removal plus graveyard value matters; the flashback gives it utility in grindier games and synergy with self-mill or discard strategies. However, at 2 damage for two mana, it is below the efficiency bar for most Constructed formats—cards like **Lightning Bolt** (1 mana for 3 damage), **Play with Fire**, **Shock**, or **Strangle** are generally stronger and more mana-efficient, and even flashback alternatives like **Firebolt** offer better rate. As a result, Tome Blast would rarely see play in competitive Constructed unless the format is very slow or heavily graveyard-focused, but it could be a reasonable inclusion in Limited where repeatable removal has higher value.
