DCeased: A Zombicide Game is a cooperative board game published by CMON and based on DCeased, the comic-book storyline written by Tom Taylor and illustrated by Trevor Hairsine. The premise adapts the Anti-Life Equation into a digital infection. After the equation spreads through connected devices and communications networks, infected people become violent, fast-moving monsters. The game places players among DC characters attempting to survive the resulting collapse rather than presenting a conventional battle between heroes and villains.
DCeased uses the core structure associated with CMON’s Zombicide series. Players control Survivors, search locations for equipment, complete scenario objectives, and fight escalating groups of infected enemies. Dice-driven combat, character abilities, noise, spawning enemies, and experience progression connect the individual missions into a broader cooperative campaign. The heroes must coordinate movement and attacks while managing limited resources and the danger created by making too much noise. Unlike a competitive game, DCeased asks the table to win or lose together.
Its roster draws directly from recognizable DC characters associated with the comic setting. Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman, and other heroes appear as playable figures or major elements of the game’s scenario material. The adaptation also includes infected versions of prominent characters, reflecting one of DCeased’s central dramatic ideas: the threat is dangerous partly because familiar allies can become enemies. That transformation gives the game’s encounters a specific connection to Taylor’s story rather than treating its zombies as anonymous fantasy creatures.
CMON presented DCeased as a standalone Zombicide game through Kickstarter in 2022. The campaign offered a core box and additional content, including extra characters, enemies, and scenarios tied to the DC license. Its miniature-heavy presentation follows CMON’s established production style, with sculpted figures representing both surviving heroes and infected opponents. The campaign format also allowed supporters to obtain expansions and promotional material alongside the principal game.
The board game is therefore not simply a superhero reskin of Zombicide. Its rules inherit the series’ familiar cooperative survival framework, but its setting changes the emotional stakes and the identity of the opposition. Players are asked to preserve recognizable DC heroes, exploit their distinct powers, and endure a world where the Anti-Life infection can turn the universe’s most powerful figures against humanity. DCeased’s defining feature is this combination of licensed DC mythology, comic-specific catastrophe, and tactical horde-survival play.
