This card, Chastise, would be beneficial in a White control deck that focuses on removal and gaining life to outlast opponents. While Chastise is a decent removal spell that can also provide a life gain advantage, there are more efficient options like Path to Exile or Swords to Plowshares that offer better removal at a lower cost without the restriction of only targeting attacking creatures. However, Chastise could still see play in certain metagames where gaining life is crucial or where the ability to target attacking creatures is particularly valuable.
