About Chimney Goyf Playtest

Chimney Goyf Playtest, Creature — lhurgoyf imp, designed by Glenn Jones first released in Nov, 2019 in the set Mystery Booster Playtest Cards 2019 and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

A deck that focuses on filling up both players' graveyards quickly, such as a self-mill or reanimator deck, would benefit from using Chimney Goyf. However, there are better options like Tarmogoyf or Death's Shadow that provide more consistent power and toughness for a similar cost. While Chimney Goyf's ability to disrupt opponents by putting a card from their hand on top of their library is interesting, it may not be strong enough to see regular play in competitive Magic: The Gathering decks.

If an instant or sorcery spell deals damage to Chimney Goyf or lowers its toughness, that spell is put into its owner’s graveyard before state-based actions are performed. If that spell is the first of its type to enter a graveyard, it will raise Chimney Goyf’s toughness before the game checks to see if Chimney Goyf dies.

The ability that defines Chimney Goyf’s power and toughness works in all zones, not just the battlefield. If Chimney Goyf is in your graveyard, it will count itself.
