A deck that focuses on sacrificing creatures or has a lot of creature recursion would benefit from using Malefic Scythe, as it can quickly grow in power with the soul counters. However, there are better cards for boosting creatures in black, such as Lashwrithe or Batterskull, which provide more consistent and impactful bonuses.
