This week, the player metallix87 asked Maro:

"One thing I've noticed and felt with the most recent returns to Ravnica, Zendikar, and Innistrad is a growing sense of boredom with returning to these worlds for a third time. I don't know if I'm alone or not in this respect, is it something you've heard from others?"

The mentioned planes, the themes of recent expansions, were originally seen in 2005 (Ravnica), 2009 (Zendikar) and 2011 (Innistrad)

Other planes have also been revisited more than once, such as Dominaria

According to Maro, some players "prefer novelty and some prefer comfort"

"The former want us to explore as many new worlds as possible to see new and different things and the latter are happier when we go back to places they already love and we get to reexamine things that they are already well versed in"

He says there is also a "middle crowd" who enjoys seen old planes with new elements, or new planes with elements from older planes

Rosewater says Wizards tries to mix up these older and newer parts of the lore, so "everyone gets some of what they want"
