About Flamekin Herald

Flamekin Herald, Creature — elemental wizard, designed by Johan Grenier first released in Nov, 2020 in the set Commander Legends and was printed exactly in 3 different ways. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of $ 0.16.

Flamekin Herald would be a great addition to a Commander deck that focuses on casting powerful spells with high mana values, as it provides a way to cascade into additional spells for free. While there may be more efficient cards for specific strategies, such as Maelstrom Wanderer for a dedicated cascade theme, Flamekin Herald can still find a place in decks looking to maximize the value of their commander spells and create exciting cascading chains of spells.

Rules

03/19/21

A spell’s converted mana cost is determined only by its mana cost. Ignore any alternative costs, additional costs, cost increases, or cost reductions. For example, Bloodbraid Elf’s converted mana cost is always 4.

03/19/21

If the card has in its mana cost, you must choose 0 as the value of X when casting it without paying its mana cost.

03/19/21

The converted mana cost of a modal double-faced card in exile is that of its front face. If the last card you exile is a modal double-faced card, you may only cast the back face if the resulting spell would also have a lesser converted mana cost than the spell with cascade.

03/19/21

When the cascade ability resolves, you must exile cards. The only optional part of the ability is whether or not you cast the last card exiled.

03/19/21

You exile the cards face up. All players will be able to see them.

11/10/20

Countering the spell with cascade has no effect on the cascade ability.

11/10/20

Once you announce that you’re casting a commander spell, players can’t take action until you’ve finished casting it. Causing Flamekin Herald to leave the battlefield after the spell has been cast won’t stop its cascade ability from resolving.

11/10/20

The cascade ability triggers when you cast the spell, meaning that it resolves before that spell. If you cast the card exiled by the cascade ability, that spell will go on the stack above the spell with cascade.

11/10/20

You don’t have to cast the last card exiled by a cascade ability. If you choose to do so, you’re casting it as a spell. This means that it can be countered, and appropriate abilities trigger (such as if that spell also has cascade).
