Introduction

Today, we'll show you how to play Body/Order Sett - The Boss.

This has become one of the best competitive lists in the West. It is also very popular, powerful, and centers around holding battlefields.

In particular, we'll cover a version of it built by Antoine J., who was among the top 32 players at the SCGCON Vegas Riftbound.

Before we begin, however, let me introduce myself. My name is Total, and I used to cast Legends of Runeterra tournaments professionally. I covered all the official tournaments, including Worlds, and I am known for creating deck guides for LoR as well. Now, I am a part of the Riftbound community!

Sett - The Boss - Body Order

The main idea behind this list is to play strong units early on and conquer a battlefield as soon as possible. Next, you'll focus on holding that battlefield until the end of the match.

This list will give you enough resources to be active on both battlefields during the mid-game. Essentially, you won't let your opponent fight for the board at any point during the game.

As you'll usually be faster than them, you'll always be ahead in tempo. Even if they manage to hold a battlefield while you hold another, you'll be ahead because you conquered and started holding your battlefield before they did.

Another detail about this list is that it is one of the few competitive decks that can use its buffed units consistently, all thanks to its Legend card.

Legend - Sett The Boss

Sett - The Boss is a very powerful Legend that lets you save buffed units from certain death. To do this, you'll have to recycle a rune and "spend" that unit's buff. It'll then return to base, exhausted.

This effect is extremely strong in the mid and late game, particularly when your opponent starts spending their resources to deal with your board. You, in turn, will save your most critical cards with just a few of your own resources.

This means your champions will always stay in play, and you'll always be ahead in tempo. The match will be under your control at all times.

Main Champion - Sett - Brawler

The main champion in your champion zone is Sett - Brawler, who will also be your main engine and is one of the hardest cards to remove in the entire game.

He gets a buff when he enters play and when he conquers a battlefield. Whenever you "spend" his buff, he gets +4 power for the rest of the turn.

This ability is incredibly strong, considering several cards in this list buff cards or do something when you "spend" a buff.

You can also save Sett - Brawler with your Legend's effect. He'll get +4 power and, as such, can get ready and attack a second time, all in one turn.

Battlefields

Navori Fighting Pit is a great battlefield early on, particularly if you didn't draw very well. When you can't buff your cards in any other way, this card will be your salvation.

Monastery of Hirana is the most important battlefield in this list because it spends a buff to draw you a card. This effect is quite specific, so your opponent will hardly be able to take advantage of it. Meanwhile, your list is built to spend buffs, so you'll get a lot from it.

The Candlelit Sanctum is a meta battlefield. This means it is great in most decks, including this one. In fact, it makes this list a lot more consistent. Though it interacts with conquering instead of holding, its effect is often critical, considering this strategy doesn't draw a lot of cards.

Main Cards

Early Game

Cithria of Cloudfield is your main card early on, and you must mulligan after her whenever possible. She'll give you a buff early, which will set your main strategy in motion.

Trifarian Gloryseeker is the perfect card for Cithria of Cloudfield. Together, they make a pretty strong front, as well as a great combo on turn 2.

Pakaa Cub is a strong unit. It'll defend you from attacks early on and improve your odds of holding a battlefield.

Mid-Game

First Mate is one of the best units in the game nowadays. It will be critical in combos with your Legend.

Call to Glory will turn your Sett - Brawler into a war tank and set his power to +7.

Fiora - Victorious is perhaps the most important card in this list, as she is even more relevant than your main champion. She is your main win condition, in fact. The reason for this is simple: she gives you a lot of resources when she has +1 power.

She gets Deflect, Ganking, and Shield. This is extremely strong and quite unusual for a card that costs 4.

Lastly, Primal Strength gives +7 to a unit, which is a lot. You'll often hold a battlefield because of it.

End Game

This list doesn't play many explosive or powerful cards in the end game. Instead, you'll focus on building a strong board early on and keeping it full of units as you play.

In any case, Grand Strategem forces you to spend a lot of resources for a finisher, but it makes sure you'll hold a battlefield.

Karma - Channeler is a late game card. She'll help you return to the game and draw better cards when everything goes wrong.

Important Tips

Regardless of your board, always make Fiora -Victorious your priority. She is the most important card in this list.

Use Sabotage whenever your opponent tutors a card or draws a lot of them.

Your Legend's signature spell, Showstopper, interacts directly with Sett - The Boss's effect. Right after you use your Legend to save a unit, you can use Showstopper to buff it again and move it to a battlefield. This will either start a showdown or conquer that battlefield, all for 1 energy and 2 recycled runes (because of your Legend's effect).

Only play Hidden Blade in the end or mid-game, and on key enemy units. You can play it on one of your units early on if you drew really badly.

Keep in mind that Karma - Channeler gets a buff as soon as she enters play because of her effect.

Play hidden spells on battlefields to distract your opponent.

If you return to your hand a champion from your champion zone, try to play them right afterward with your Legend's effect. If you keep pushing it off, your opponent may find out what you're doing and what you have and prepare themselves to answer you.
