Introduction

As I was taking a look both at the lore and the characters who lost their spark and became simple legendary creatures, I stumbled upon Nahiri, Forged in Fury. This classic equipment Boros deck stood out to me because it creates an acceleration engine by exiling the top card in your deck, and can also cast these exiled cards for free if they are an equipment card. Let's see the Lithomancer of Zendikar!

Commander and Mechanic

Nahiri, Forged in Fury has lost her spark, but has kept her essence of interacting with equipment well enough. Even though she is a bit expensive, this cost can be cheated out through her Affinity with equipment.

Boros didn't use to be able to draw various cards, but, nowadays, it can go around this in several ways, and Nahiri exiles a card for each equipped creature that attacks. This will possibly draw us cards, and even enable us to cast spells for free if the card exiled was an equipment card.

The Boros Magic Symbol R Magic Symbol W color combination is the most common combination for the equipment archetype, and consequently has countless resources to complement this type of deck - tutors, cards that reduce Equip costs (which can even go to zero), besides the other several cards that interact directly with equipment.

Accelerators

Considering Nahiri has Affinity with equipment, we can say that each equipment in this deck counts as an accelerator, but only for her. We tried to balance our proportions because Nahiri is this deck's main engine, so, besides equipment, we have other sources of mana for the other creatures and spells we have.

We use Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Talisman of Conviction and Boros Signet as mana rocks. Additionally, we use Smothering Tithe to create Treasures in a fast, efficient way.

Living Weapons and For Mirrodin!

So we don't have that issue of attacking with only one equipped creature and triggering Nahiri only once, we chose various equipment cards with Living Weapon or For Mirrodin! and similar to exile several cards during our attacks. These two abilities will give us a certain speed because we won't have to play a creature and an equipment piece separately, so we can then Equip this creature and attack and trigger Nahiri.

As Living Weapons, we use Flayer Husk, Sickleslicer, Batterbone, Nettlecyst, Kaldra Compleat and Bitterthorn, Nissa's Animus. It's worth pointing out that even if we lose the Germ token to a block later on, these artifacts remain viable, particularly Nettlecyst, which will heavily buff the equipped creature. Kaldra Compleat is useful both as a removal and to make a creature incredibly strong, and Bitterthorn, Nissa's Animus ramps well, particularly if it appears to you early in the match.

The equipment cards with For Mirrodin! that we use are Bladehold War-Whip, which lowers the Equip cost of your other equipment cards, which is quite crucial in a deck like this one. We have Hexplate Wallbreaker to give us extra combats, consequently triggering Nahiri again if she is on the board. Finally, we have Glimmer Lens to draw cards, and Hexgold Halberd, Barbed Batterfist and Citizen's Crowbar, with the same idea of creating units that are already equipped.

A bonus in this list are the artifacts with Reconfigure, considering they also lower Nahiri's cost. We use Lizard Blades to access Double Strike, Lion Sash to remove problematic cards from graveyards, Rabbit Battery to access Haste and Cloudsteel Kirin to keep us in the game even after going to 0 life.

Equipment

These are the equipment cards without Living Weapon or For Mirrodin! that we use for utility. We have those that help us with mana, like Sword of Feast and Famine, to untap our lands, cast the cards exiled by Nahiri, and, on top of it all, force an opponent to discard a card. The Reaver Cleaver and Sword of the Animist are excellent cards to have early in the match so we can ramp as soon as possible and keep up with the rhythm on the board.

To Equip our weapons, we have Hammer of Nazahn. To have answers, we use Shadowspear, both to remove Indestructible effects from our opponent's permanents and offer us evasion and life gain. We also have Sunforger, and a great array of instant spells that cost 4 or less, which will be shown later on.

To be aggressive, we use Embercleave, Blackblade Reforged and Nazgûl Battle-Mace - these 3 equipment cards can put on a lot of pressure on our opponents, particularly Embercleave, if played during combat. Blackblade Reforged also opens up the possibility of killing an opponent through commander damage if it is equipped on Nahiri.

Finally, we have Masterwork of Ingenuity to copy an equipment piece that is worth it, such as Sword of Feast and Famine or Hexplate Wallbreaker, and Swiftfoot Boots to provide us with some safety against Hexproof, besides also granting Haste to a creature that is equipped.

Interacting with Equipment

To optimize our Equip costs, we use Danitha Capashen, Paragon, Puresteel Paladin, Bruenor Battlehammer and Astor, Bearer of Blades. I'll highlight Astor, Bearer of Blades, which, when its ETB is triggered, can give us another equipment card, besides greatly reducing the cost of our Equip effects.

To draw cards, we have Sram, Senior Edificer, Jor Kadeen, First Goldwarden and Akiri, Fearless Voyager. Akiri, Fearless Voyager has a peculiar ability that makes creatures Indestructible, which can save us from surprise blockers or possible removals that our opponents might play.

To be aggressive, we have Reyav, Master Smith and Kellan, the Fae-Blooded. Kellan, the Fae-Blooded is great due to its 2 sides: it is a tutor in its Adventure side and a creature that can be aggressive through its Double Strike, besides the buff that it grants to our other creatures.

Speaking of tutors, we use Axgard Armory, Steelshaper's Gift, Open the Armory and Fighter Class to look for relevant cards, like Sword of Feast and Famine, Sword of the Animist or any equipment card that is useful at the moment.

To reduce the Equip cost, we also have Sigarda's Aid and Forge Anew in this deck, which is useful in many ways - it Reanimates an equipment piece, zeroes the first Equip cost and guarantees combat tricks by allowing us to Equip at instant speed in our turn.

In a Nahiri deck, we couldn't miss, of course, her Planeswalker form. We use Nahiri, the Lithomancer to create tokens and increase the number of equipped creatures that attack, besides also playing some high-cost equipment card from your hand, like Kaldra Compleat.

Nahiri, Heir of the Ancients also creates a token and Equips it directly, which helps advance this deck's goal. Being able to look for an equipment card and remove something problematic from an opponent also enable it to work really well.

Finally, to Reanimate equipment cards, we have Campus Renovation, which gives us an advantage by exiling the top two cards in our deck for us to play until the end of the next turn. We also have Unfinished Business, which returns a creature and two equipment cards already attached to it, and Goldwarden's Gambit, to create more bodies that also gain an equipment card to trigger our commander. The fact this spell allows us to grant Haste to something makes it possible for us to turn the game around, particularly if the Living Weapon or For Mirrodin! creatures have already died.

Answers and Protection

Most of the spells shown can be used alongside Sunforger. We use, as target removal, Chaos Warp, Generous Gift, Path to Exile, Swords to Plowshares and Wear // Tear.

Considering this deck is extremely dependent on our creatures being present on the battlefield, every protection to keep our board is welcome. Considering that, we use Boros Charm, Everybody Lives!, Teferi's Protection, Clever Concealment, Flawless Maneuver and Resistance Reunited, and all of them can be tutored with Sunforger.

Even though it is a creature, we also added Boromir, Warden of the Tower, which can disrupt opponents that play spells from exile, like Cascade, for instance.

Finally, as global removal, we have Blasphemous Act, and, as possible finisher, we use Taunt from the Rampart to guarantee an attack without any blockers and also heavily disrupt our opponents, which will make it possible for you to kill them with their own tools.

Nahiri, Forged in Fury Exile List

The one who created this list initially was Alan Siqueira, who also created the original Muldrotha and Gyruda list that I used to structure, months ago, a Companion Deck Tech. Another list that is also his is the alternative list with Sidisi!

Final Words

Boros Equipments is a very popular archetype that has been gaining more tools as sets are released, which makes it very interesting and fun to pilot. Nahiri creates a good advantage in case you can conduct the game well, and can cause a reasonable amount of damage on the board with all the cool equipment we chose for this list.
