Held this past weekend, from April 14th to 16th, The Pokémon European International Championships, or Pokémon EUIC, might have just broken the previous record for one of the biggest competitive international events ever held in the history of competitive events.

The event had multiple attractions, including several competitions for all ages, for several different Pokémon games, such as, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Pokémon TCG, Pokémon Go and Pokémon Unite. The 3,000 competitors who gathered for this event probably hoped to win some points to qualify for Worlds, which will take place this August, and maybe even conquer a few of the EUIC big winner titles.

The previous event which was supposedly the biggest in its category was the 2016 U.S. National Championship, which attracted 4,000 total guests, 1,110 of which were competitors. As the European event had 3,000 competitors alone, there is a good chance this record has been broken, though the total numbers for the EUIC haven't been published yet.

With over 3,000 competitors registered, the EUIC event might break attendance records.

The 2016 event had a $50,000 total prize pool, with $10,000 going to the TCG winner. A few of the other games' competitions had a $5,000 1st prize.

For the TCG category, it was one of the first events in which players could test out the new cards from the Scarlet and Violet Set released recently.

The next big competitive event for Pokémon will be the North America International Championships in July, the only one left before Worlds 2023. Let's hope it brings even more trainers together!
