Introduction
Log Bait has been one of the main strategies in Clash Royale since 2016, even after so many updates and changes. This strategy centers around manipulating the opponent's spell cycle and creating windows of opportunity so that fragile but powerful units can deal a lot of damage.
To play this deck, you need to manage elixir really well and be quite disciplined. In 2026, now that evolutions have found their place in the game and that heroes are incredibly common, Log Bait has adapted so it can continue punishing opponents for committing the smallest mistakes.
Main Game Plan

Classic Log Bait leans on a well-oiled engine. Each piece protects the next or forces the opponent to play a specific answer. The main goal is to control the opponent psychologically.
When you put a Princess or Goblin Gang in play, you're not just trying to deal damage but also "trying to attract" the enemy Log or their Arrows. Once they spend their low-cost spell, the path will be free for Goblin Barrel to shine. This dynamic only works if you know the enemy deck as well as you know yours. You need to anticipate their every move so that you can keep putting pressure on them.
Win Conditions and Main Cards
Your main win condition will be Goblin Barrel. This card lets you put three Goblins directly in the enemy Tower and forces the opponent to answer immediately. The secret to making it work is to use it differently according to what you need. Experienced players swap between throwing it at the very center of the Tower and throwing it in the back or on the sides. Like so, they force the opponent to mistime their Log or Zap. If they misplay their spell, they usually end up taking hundreds of damage in just a few seconds.

Your second win condition, and oftentimes the safest in difficult matches, is the Rocket. In Log Bait, the Rocket finishes Towers that are already damaged or destroys expensive support units that are behind the King's Tower. In emergencies or against very defensive decks, the best strategy will be the Rocket Cycle. You'll focus on defending yourself perfectly while you release Rockets again and again to try to win in the tie-breaker.

Defensive Strategy and Support
Log Bait is known for its defensive potential, and practically all of its cards do a lot in that sense. Nonetheless, the main pillars in this list are the Inferno Tower and the Knight.
The Inferno Tower is the definitive answer to heavy tanks, like Golem, Giant, or P.E.K.K.A. You must play this Tower in the very center to attract enemy units and melt them before they can reach your Crown Towers.

The Knight is a cheap tank that can absorb damage from units like the Executioner or the Wizard while your support Towers eliminate threats.
The Princess will cover the air and control a wide area. She can hit enemy Towers from a safe distance and forces the opponent to spend elixir to remove her.

Goblin Gang and Ice Spirit complete the last of your defenses. They're quick distractions and can paralyze units for a short period of time. You'll also have the Log, which is a spell that controls the ground and destroys enemy Barrels, Princesses, or hordes that try to overwhelm your defenses.
Finally, you can also use the Rocket itself to protect yourself and get ahead in elixir, as it can easily disable combos like the Valkyrie, Elite Barbarians, Baby Dragon, Witch, Healer, and others.
Evolved Cards and Heroes
Some new 2026 mechanics made Log Bait a lot more flexible. The Knight is an essential piece because you can use it both Evolved and as a Hero. If you decide to use it as a Hero, it will become a leader because of its activated abilities, and you'll be able to Evolve other cards. In this situation, Evolved Goblin Barrel and Evolved Ice Spirit are the best alternatives. Another powerful variant is swapping Inferno Tower for the Cannon and using Evolved Cannon with the Barrel. You'll keep the Knight as a Hero to make sure you have a solid tank in the frontlines.

However, Evolved Knight is also an option. Even without Heroes, Log Bait will remain consistent.

As for Evolved Goblin Barrel, it is absolutely necessary. It is very distracting, so it also adds to the psychological manipulation. An advanced strategy is taking advantage of the Knight (Evolved or as a Hero) when it advances. As the Knight tanks the enemy Tower, you'll release Evolved Barrel to make fake Goblins appear on that side.
These Goblins will be vulnerable, but they'll deal a considerable amount of damage while they're alive - which will be a long time because of the Knight - and help you put pressure on both routes simultaneously with the real Barrel, which you'll release on the opposite Tower. This will force the opponent to choose where they spend their main spell, and oftentimes you'll deal damage to one side guaranteed.

How to Play Log Bait
To master Log Bait you'll have to keep calm and watch your opponent closely. You must never act on impulse!
This deck rewards a good eye and patience. Each card the opponent plays reveals something about their cycle and lets you plan your attack for when they're most vulnerable.
Early Game and Managing Elixir
Be careful early on. Start out safely, with an Ice Spirit to cycle your deck or a Princess behind the King's Tower. The main goal is to find out which spells your opponent has.
Release a Goblin Barrel to test your opponent's reflexes. If they use the Log, you'll know your Goblin Gang or your Princess will be safe on the bridge for a few seconds.
Avoid spending too much elixir straight away. If you release a Rocket without clearly getting something out of it, you'll be vulnerable to a counterattack that your defenses might not be able to hold. Keep playing cards, but always keep enough elixir to answer a tank or any unit that attacks fast and comes up on the bridge.
End of the Game and Overtime
In Double or Triple Elixir, Log Bait starts throwing cards at an incredible speed. Its cycle will be much faster than most heavy decks. One of the secrets to being successful in this phase is to hoard Princesses.

To do this efficiently, always put the Princess on the side your opponent isn't attacking. Like so, she'll be able to support the central arena in terms of defenses and walk to the other bridge without dying to enemy troops or spells that easily. With two or three Princesses alive, the constant pressure from Arrows will turn the enemy defenses into a nightmare - spending a spell like this will give you the opportunity for a good Goblin Barrel.
In Overtime, you must finish with the Rocket. If the enemy Tower is fragile, try to find out how many Rockets and Logs you'll need to take it down. Your main goal is to set up the perfect defense while you cycle your deck as fast as possible to play spells that deal damage directly. You'll usually win at the very last second, and whoever best managed their elixir throughout the entire match will win.

How to Beat Other Popular Decks

To beat Runner 2.6, you'll need to position your Inferno Tower or Knight with the Ice Spirit perfectly. The secret is to not let the Runner strike, not even once. As the 2.6 cycle is extremely fast, you'll need to cycle your defenses just as fast. Use the Log to push the Runner and buy whatever time you need to make sure your Tower and troops do what they need to.

In mirror matches, that is, against another Log Bait, whoever best manages their Log wins. Never use your Log offensively, unless you're absolutely certain that the enemy Barrel isn't available. Protect your Princess at all costs because she'll clear the enemy Goblin Gang very easily.

As for the Golem Beatdown matchup, being aggressive will be your best defense. As soon as the opponent puts Golem in their backrow, release the Barrel and the Knight on the other Tower. This will prevent them from stacking support troops behind their main tank. Like so, your Inferno Tower will work a lot better.
Variations and Swaps
If you're looking for other versions, you can replace the Knight with the Valkyrie. She will help you set up a solid defense against graveyard decks or ground troops, though she will make this deck slightly heavier. She can Evolve as well.

Tesla is a viable alternative to Inferno Tower, particularly against decks that cycle fast or Balloon decks because it can hide from spells and hits targets in the sky perfectly. In some cases, you can also consider the Cannon.
If you're a free to play player, Log Bait is one of the friendliest lists in Clash Royale because most of its cards are common or rare, and it doesn't need any Champion. The Princess and the Log are the only legendaries that you need. If you still don't have any Evolved Heroes, try to level up your Goblin Barrel and your Gang. Like so, a simple Zap won't be able to destroy them.
Cards like Goblin and Dart can also replace Princess in "Double Bait" variations. It will deal a lot of damage every second and punish opponents that throw their Arrows away on smaller units.

Final Words
Log Bait is proof that strategy and precision overcome brute strength in Clash Royale. If you master this list, you'll be ready to face the 2026 meta easily.
This archetype will always reward players that control the battlefield perfectly, either by dealing damage constantly with Goblins or by finishing the game with the Rocket. Keep calm, study your cycles, and take every opportunity to reach the top of the arena.
