Pokémon fans are used to Pikachu and Charizard being the most prominent of these little pocket monsters. Even so, core fans will tell you that there are lots of others in this trading card game (TCG) with great cinematic potential.
Froslass
Froslass is one of the unsung heroes from Pokémon. With a tragic backstory to set the scene, Froslass would do very well in a gothic horror movie. This chilling tale has the perfect mix of love and loss that could keep fans on the edge of their seats, the action taking place across a land of snow-covered peaks.

Movies like these that adapt video games to film often need a character with deep lore and a special ability that really proves a challenge in battle. Froslass has all the qualities to get a first movie and a sequel. There is much going on for this story that fans would love to see at the box office.
Zoroark
This Generation V Pokémon would absolutely be a hit at the cinemas. Zoroark’s special ability of illusion is perfect for a heist movie, where misdirection and unpredictable twists keep the action alive. The Pokémon could also be the star in an intricate story of espionage, which would fit snugly into the order of Pokémon movies.
In any of these, Zoroark’s ability to take the form of his nearest enemy would keep his enemies and the audience guessing throughout the movie. With an animation series already made that got a good reception, this is probably the movie "HollywooPokémon" would most likely go for if playing it safe, giving fans something they have seen before and liked.
Mimikyu
This Generation 7 ghost-type Pokémon always stays hidden under its rag, which looks like Pikachu, and can never reveal its appearance. It prefers to stay in the dark since sunlight affects its health. While there have been great Pokémon movies, Mimikyu presents the chance to explore themes different from the norm.
Mimikyu’s story is heartfelt, and having to impersonate Pikachu to get closer to people and other Pokémon must weigh heavy on the pocket monster. Herein lies the plot for a dark comedy, exploring themes of loneliness and finding one’s true identity in a world that expects perfection.
Its disguise ability, which lets it copy the attacks of other Pokémon in the game, should also provide for some funny and intriguing moments in the film as Mimikyu disguises itself to fit into different social circles.
Galarian Corsola
Galarian Corsola is one of the Pokémon that could help tell a story quite relevant to our world as well. This Pokémon, first introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield, is based on coral. As climate change has been such a hot topic over the years, Galarian Corsola could be the right fit for a story that tells of the pollution of the oceans and seas with devastating consequences when things get really bad. The movie would showcase a real problem causing massive dead zones and compromising biodiversity. Its cursed body's hidden ability ties into the story quite aptly.
What Would Your Picks Be?
There are lots of other Pokémon that would equally be blockbuster hits if adapted into movies. You must have thought of a few we left out as we went through ours, so which ones do you think deserve a debut in the movies? What TCG mechanics and cards would you be excited to see brought to life in another medium? The possibilities are endless. We can only hope that Hollywood is as crazed about these little pocket monsters as we are and gets one in the works.
