Ghost Galaxy is a tabletop-game publisher founded by Justin Gary and Richard Garfield. Gary founded Stone Blade Entertainment, while Garfield designed Magic: The Gathering and co-designed the original SolForge. Ghost Galaxy grew from their work on SolForge Fusion, a physical trading-card game developed with a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2022. The company centers its publishing approach on algorithmically generated games: software produces distinct deck combinations that are then printed for tabletop play. That system makes its public identity closely connected to collectible products whose variations are created computationally rather than solely through conventional fixed deck lists for players everywhere today. In SolForge Fusion, every deck is made from two half-decks, called Forgeborn halves, which are combined to form a forty-card deck. Each half-deck carries its own name, card list, faction mixture, and a unique algorithmic identity. Players can recombine halves from different purchases, so deck construction begins with pairing two pre-existing generated components rather than selecting individual cards one by one. The game also retains a central SolForge mechanic: cards level up during play. A card played at level one can return at a higher level later in the same match, giving repeated plays a progression function. This is central. Its website has also presented rules, card databases, event information, and product announcements for the game. The company’s initial product line included Booster Kits, which contain multiple generated half-decks and are intended to supply the pairings from which complete decks are assembled. This packaging is important to the game’s model: players do not merely open boosters seeking isolated rare cards; they obtain named half-decks that can be played together or paired with other halves. SolForge Fusion’s public releases followed a sequence of set names, including Alpha, Beta, and Uprising, expanding the available pool of generated cards and factions worldwide today. The founders' connection to SolForge predates Ghost Galaxy. Richard Garfield and Justin Gary designed the earlier digital card game SolForge, which was released in 2012 by Stone Blade Entertainment. That game used leveling cards and drew attention for trying to combine a collectible-card-game structure with digitally managed progression. SolForge Fusion recast the concept for physical cards, with the algorithmic deck-generation process enabling the printed game’s huge number of possible deck identities. Ghost Galaxy therefore represents a continuation and redesign of a project associated with both founders, not an unrelated use of the SolForge name. Its history joins them again today.
