El Engaño del Diablillo puede ser una adición valiosa a un mazo de control o de interrupción que tiene como objetivo redirigir hechizos poderosos de los oponentes, al mismo tiempo que tiene la flexibilidad de ser una instantánea de bajo costo. Sin embargo, puede que no sea tan eficiente como otras cartas como el Golpe Desviante o la Trampa de Ricochet, que ofrecen efectos similares sin la desventaja de la pérdida de vida. Si el Engaño del Diablillo debería jugarse depende de la estrategia específica del mazo y del metajuego al que se enfrenta.
