Simply put, YouTube killed the video star. For several years now, YouTube has been the most watched entertainment platform among Millennials and Gen Z, the majority of which are no longer watching broadcast/terrestrial television.

Edit Article

The wide availability of the internet and smartphones is of course the major reason for this. However, the quality of YouTube is another defining factor.

Happily enough for the CardsRealmlink outside website team, there is plenty of excellent content revolving around card games too which is our main reason for writing this article.

PokeHEX

As the name suggests, PokeHexlink outside website specialises in opening different Pokémon booster packs for his audience of over 15k subscribers. In some of the videos, he opens the cards with his wife and he has more than 125 videos in total on his channel.

PokeHex’s most popular video has over 1.2 million views. The video is him opening a 1999 Pokémon Base Set Shadowless Booster Box which is worth over £75,000! His most exciting pack openings are the ones in which the cards are potentially worth tens of thousands of pounds. He also has his own Discord channel and website too.

SlotsHawk

One of the newest YouTube channels on this list, SlotsHawk specialises in a mixture of new and popular slotslink outside website in which they play and review on their videos. One of the major draws of SlotsHawk is that they use their own money whilst playing, so it’s 100% authentic, unlike some of the bigger YouTube slots and casino channels.

After a brief look at their channel, it seems like SlotsHawklink outside website mainly focuses on reviewing newly released games. They also have their own website where they have fully written reviews of the games they play.

Ruxin34

A collector of Yu-Gi-Oh cards, Ruxin34link outside website films himself opening a variety of different booster boxes and card sets. His rarest cards sell for over £50,000 and these videos are a lot of fun if you have ever collected or played Yu-Gi-Oh yourself. With over 200k subscribers and more than 2,000 videos, there’s a lot of content for anyone new to his excellent channel.

Our favourite videos are the ones where he opens classic Yu-Gi-Oh cards given those are the ones I used to collect when I was just a wee lad! My favourite card from the show was the Masked Beast, but I could never pull that card myself. Of course, with the advent of the internet, it is now much easier to get any card you want, but back in the day it was tough, especially as a kid where you could only afford maybe one booster pack per month!

Cardboard Kiwi

Specialising in Magic the Gathering pack opening as well as Magic the Gathering lore and history, Cardboard Kiwilink outside website is a smaller YouTuber from New Zealand with 2.8k subscribers and at time of writing, 69 videos. His box openings are lots of fun and are a little on the cheaper side in comparison with box openings of Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards.

Cardboard Kiwi has begun posting more regularly recently, although he still only averages at around one video every two weeks. There are plenty of Magic the Gathering YouTubers, but something about Cardboard Kiwi’s enthusiasm for the game really sells his channel to us.

Philosopher Cards

Philosopher Cardslink outside website does not just concentrate on one card game, no he does pack openings from a variety of pack openings, but we would like to concentrate on his Star Wars Unlimited pack openings. Star Wars UNlimited is a relatively new card game which is quickly growing in popularity. There are lots of ways to build your own unique decks in this Star Wars game and there are plenty of cards available.

Philosopher Cards clearly loves his card games and plays and reviews plenty of different card games so we can recommend checking out his channel which has almost 11k subscribers and 256 videos.

Conclusion

To conclude, there are plenty of excellent YouTube channels which focus on card games and pack openings. Our picks are a drop in the ocean compared to what is out there, but we highly recommend that you take a look at our choices, the Cards Realm team certainly spent a great time researching each of them for you.
