You might remember when Naughty Dog released The Last of Us for the first time back in 2013 and it took the entire world by storm because of how brilliant the game was in every way possible. The game showed the post-apocalyptic United States and all the troubles that people had to face in it. We’ll tell you the details further ahead, so be sure to read till the end.
One of the best things about The Last of Us is that it usually goes on sale on the PlayStation Store for the PlayStation 4 (PS4), so be sure to keep an eye out for the sale to go live. Once that happens, all you need is a superfast internet connection so that you could purchase, download and install the game as fast as possible. It would be possible to do so with an internet connection from Spectrum, which is popular for its internet service and reliability.

When the game came out initially, it was for the first time that Naughty Dog was split into two teams to develop two games, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception and the other dedicated to The Last of Us. Is The Last of Us worth all the hype? Keep reading to find out if it is or not
The Very Captivating Storyline
Many people would agree when we say that The Last of Us had a storyline like no other. From start to end, the game had the kind of story that would have you constantly asking for more. The game begins with a heartbreak, like seriously the intro of the game is nothing less than a knife to the heart. That is where you can tell that the game has a dark tone and isn’t for the weak-hearted.
In the game we get to see that the US has been infected by the Cordyceps fungus that has mutated in a way that it controls the minds of the people that it attacks, turning them into zombies. The game is about Joel Miller, who works as a smuggler to make ends meet. He is tasked to smuggle a girl called Ellie to a militia group called the Fireflies. The reason why Ellie has to be smuggled across the country is that the Fireflies are working to find a cure to the infection and somehow Ellie is immune to the infection. They need Ellie so that they could reverse-engineer a vaccine to cure humanity.
On their journey, Joel and Ellie have to face a lot of problems and hurdles. They have a lot of close calls on the way but they still make it through. You would have to witness the story yourself to see how amazing it is.
“Make All of Your Shots Count”
This is something that you hear throughout the game because all of your resources are limited in the game. The Last of Us is all about survival and has a very serious take on how you need to manage all of your resources to survive. You have to craft your health kits, manage all your bullets and make sure you don’t end up wasting your shots. You need to be strategic about how you fight your enemies and also don’t end up taking too much damage, since you have limited health kits as well.
The harder the difficulty, the more limited your resources are going to be. Also, your enemies are going to be just as aggressive so you need to make sure you choose the right difficulty for yourself.
Ellie and Joel’s Bond
At first, Joel only thinks of Ellie as cargo that he needs to deliver but soon enough, the two of them form a bond like no other. If you’ve never played the game before (which is surprising if you haven’t) then we’d like to ask you to have a box of tissues ready as you are near the end of the game because it is bound to make you cry. After Joel loses his entire family, Ellie is no less than family to him and he would go to any length at all to make sure Ellie is safe and protected. The way their bond develops through the game itself is beautiful.
Are We Not Going to Talk About the Show?
Very recently, HBO took it upon itself to make a live-action adaptation of the game and we’ll say that they did a decent job, they did justice to the game in every way. The show stars Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. They made sure that would stay true to the story of the game and wouldn’t add any touches of their own, which is why the show was just as beautiful as the game.

Not just the show, but The Last of Us also had a sequel that continued Ellie’s story and while it wasn’t as good as its predecessor, it was still a promising game that you should try too!
Wrapping Up
These are some of the reasons why The Last of Us is considered one of the best games of all time even today. It could very easily be said that the game is Naughty Dog’s masterpiece, considering that people want to buy and play it even today!
